This is one of the most important features that we at DVD-Copy-Software-Review look for. Is the product user-friendly, easy for beginners, and experienced computer users alike?

Ease of Installation

How simple is the software to install and use on your computer? Are additional downloads necessary before you can make a copy? Do errors pop up during the installation? Is there help available?

Quality of Copy

Does the program make an excellent copy of a DVD? Does the copy have any image defects? Is the sound synchronized with the picture? Does the copy retain the menus on the original DVD?

Program Stability

Does the program seem error-prone? Does it react negatively with other software already installed on your computer?

Company Offers Additional Software for Mobile Devices

DVD to iPod

The DVD copy manufacturer offers an upgraded or additional product for copying your DVDs to an iPod. Usually, this software is only compatible with iPod; however, some companies have a mobile option that includes iPod as well as other mobile formats.

DVD to Other Mobile Devices

The DVD copy manufacturer offers an upgrade or additional product that can convert DVDs to various mobile formats including iPod, Zune, PSP, AVI, WMV and more.

Features

Compress DVD-9 to DVD-5

If you use a CD burner, you must use more than one CD to copy an entire DVD. If you use a DVD burner you have the option of using one or two blank DVDs to copy an entire DVD. Software with the ability to condense the original data to fit on a single DVD typically list this ability in the feature set.

Ability to retain bonus material

The software allows the user to retain additional sections of the DVD aside from the main feature.

Ability to omit bonus material

The DVD copy software has the ability to delete additional sections of the DVD.

Copies to/from Hard Drive

The DVD copy software can burn a DVD from a ripped DVD file already stored on the computer hard drive.

Episodic DVD support

The product as the ability to support the copying of episodic discs, or DVDs with multiple features.

Time to Complete Copy

This is the length of time it takes a particular piece of software to copy a whole DVD.

Restores defective or scratched DVDs

If your original DVD has a scratch or a defect on it, this feature will produce a DVD copy with the damaged portion repaired.

Supports Menus

The DVD copy software has the option to retain DVD menus.

Output Media

DVD(+/-)R Dual Layer

A recordable DVD that can hold up to 9 gigabytes of information.

DVD(+/-)R(W)

A recordable DVD that can hold upto 5 gigabytes of information. A DVD RW is a rewritable DVD that can be erased and reuses multiple times. The (+/-) is determined by the DVD burner.

CD-R(W)

A CD that can be burned using a CD burner. A CD RW (recordable/rewritable) is a CD that can be erased use multiple times.

Output Formats

NTSC (Movies)

NTSC is the media storage format that is used with most televisions in most western countries.

PAL (Movies)

PAL is the media storage format used in most European televisions.

DIVX

DivX is the name of a new video format based on the new MPEG-4 compression standard for video. Once you've installed the DivX codec, you will be able to play DivX movies using Windows Media Player or any other DivX-enabled player.

AVI

AVI stands for Audio Video Interlaced. This format was developed by Microsoft and is one of the oldest media storage formats in use.

Documentation/Help

Does the product offer an excellent help document? The help document should answer most of the questions that a novice user might have about their product. It should have graphics and include a step-by-step set of instructions.
