DVD Copying Hardware

Copying DVD's can be easy if you have the right hardware. There are two different types of hardware that you can use to copy a DVD.

The first piece of hardware you can use is a DVD burner. We found that it is much easier to copy a DVD using a DVD burner than it is using a CD burner. With a DVD burner there are usually two different steps required to copy a DVD. Reading (ripping) the DVD to the hard drive then burning it to a blank DVD-R(W) medium. The only down fall with using a DVD burner is the cost of the burner and the blank DVD-R(W)'s, but the prices are dropping.

The last piece of hardware that you may use is a CD burner in combination with a DVD-ROM. The DVD-ROM is used for reading the DVD and ripping it to the hard drive. The CD burner is used for copying the movie onto blank CD-R(W)'s. The only problem with this is that the CD-R(W)'s aren't the same in quality as the DVD-R(W) mediums. Using a CD burner is more cost efficient, but the quality suffers as a result.
