DVD Squeeze is an application to convert your DVD movies (with or without the menus and bonus material) to a CD to be played in a VCD compatible DVD player or hard drive. The greatest benefit of using DVD Squeeze is the compression capability. You can compress a long DVD to fit on one CD with little image loss. It is easy to install and has a great help document.
Feature Set:
This product does an excellent job of ripping the movie and compressing it to DIVX. The only thing wrong with this product is that the burning software didn't work properly. There is a program to install that is supposed to help you copy your DVD to VCD or SVCD. Instead it helps you copy the DVD to the computer and only change the movie's format. DVD Squeeze also comes with information on how to backup Playstation 2 games onto a CD-R.
Ease of Use:
The startup menu for this product was clearly marked and easy to understand, until you reached the software portion. Unless you have read the manual and understand the terms like DVIX and MPEG, these programs will be very confusing. DVD Squeeze also doesn't have any contact information or technical support available from their website.
Ease of Installation:
This product is very easy to install. No problems.
Quality of Copy:
With the help of the Nero software this product produced a great DVD copy using the CD-R medium and SVCD format. Since it only converts to a VCD or SVCD format, the quality is not as good as the original DVD. However, DVD Squeeze's compression method seems to be better than average.
Program Stability:
The burning software didn't work properly.
Summary:
Overall, DVD Squeeze is a good program if you are willing to limit your use to a CD burner and a DVD-ROM drive or need to copy DVD games. However, for the price, there are better options available that can do much more.
